Travel Playlist

Summer is in full swing and it’s time to talk about music. I created a travel playlist because I really wanted to share some tunes with you that are personal to me. This playlist is for all types of travel situations whether it be a road trips, plane rides, or on the beach. I wanted a list with a mix of various genres of music: old school, new school, rap, rock and roll –  a little bit of every type of music. This is overall feel good music. Music that makes you just want to get up and go.

I do want to tell you a little bit about the playlist. It’s titled The Wearied Traveler-Summer ’17 and it can be found on Spotify. I decided to start the playlist off with “I Can’t Get Next To You”, by The Temptations. This song stood out to me when I was thinking of what songs should be included on the list. It is definitely a feel-good song but it also brings up a lot of memories for me. I grew up listening to this type of music – my dad and his siblings are big fans. There is no era of music greater than Motown Records from the 50s and 60s. There’s a little something for everyone in this playlist.

I personally selected each song from my various libraries to comprise the list. This is not a random selection of songs; these songs mean something and are personal to me. Not only is each song purposeful, but the order of the list creates its own narrative. The playlist contains 31 songs, 2 plus hours of music, and contains artists such as, Rick Ross, Nina Simone, and David Bowie to name a few. Music has been a passion of mine from time to time and I’d like to think my library is diverse and complex. It’s important that my music choice reflect who I am. Despite my music collection; there’s so much more music out there for me to absorb. I believe, music is the greatest way to express ourselves and is one of the best ways for us to communicate with one another. It is such a extraordinary art form, logical and complicated.

I’m not a hundred percent sure the list is completely finish or that I won’t change the order. But in the meantime, I want to share this with you and I hope you get enjoyment from it.
