Theater!

So we’re still coming up with ways to break away from work and stress and do something fun and entertaining and in the meantime, save for our big trip! It’s coming I promise! So I’m going to talk to you a little bit about theaters. Now, I know people don’t typically think of going to a (fabulous) show at your town’s local convention center as having a good time, bar the elderly (we love the elderly) and the girls, “how you doin’?”, but catching an entertaining show filled with talented actors, live music, spectacular lights is not only a great date, but the perfect way to unwind a little, especially when the weeks start to blend together and work becomes monotonous.

I love the theater. I acted all through elementary school and attempted drama in high school before finding my way to working for a dinner theater in my mid twenties. My friends are in theater. And even after the theater shut down a couple of years later, I still found myself going to catch shows at the local community centers and high school auditoriums. Theater-2428(4)I am currently able to catch 3 – 4 shows a year and I am very grateful for that. Taking a night to go see a show, Sacramento Broadway, always seems to come at the right time and breaks up that routine I get stuck in. It gives me something to look forward to. And believe me, I make a production out of it! I shave and get all cute. Face, beat! Pick out something cute to wear and head out for a night on the town. When I do go, I usually end up going with a good girl friend who gets equally cute and we have our friend date, dinner and drinks included. And despite the fact that we work together, we manage to keep work talk to a minimum and just enjoy each other’s company. It makes for a fun time. No drama, no stress.

When you get all cute and dolled up and make your way to the theater, don’t forget to stop by the bar and make your alcoholic beverage purchases before the show, or bring your own (no judgment) and get ready for a show filled with radiant lights, brilliant stage designs, and amazing vocal talent. I went to see The Phantom of the Opera two nights ago and the stage and set design were amazing. Phantom of the Opera-212517The lighting was beautiful (I won’t comment on the sound) and the actors were very good. I was particularly excited for this show because of the score. Now, we know that whoever is going to be playing the part of Christine Daae needs to have that soprano ready as it is not a part written for a person with mediocre talent (no shade). However the show ended up being fantastic!

Don’t sleep on the theater. Don’t take my word for it, go out and see for yourself. If you don’t, you’ll be missing out on a good ole time!

Let me know if your a regular attendee of the theater and shout out your favorite show!
